This week, our focus has been on our key ingredients and why we've included each one in the formula. We pride ourselves on having a whitening formula that delivers maximum results with no pain or sensitivity, and many of our ingredients were chosen entirely to help reduce sensitivity. Today, we're bringing you a spotlight on the three main ingredients we use in our products, and a little bit about why they're so special.
Phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid (PAP)
Phthalimidoperoxycaproic acid or PAP for short is our active bleaching agent that whitens the discoloured molecules inside your teeth. PAP was chosen as an alternative to more traditional whitening agents such as sodium bicarbonate and hydrogen peroxide as studies have shown that it is safe to be used for people who have sensitive teeth.
PAP is at the cutting edge of teeth whitening technology and is an organic peracid containing a high potential of oxidation. Oxidation is the process that actively whitens your teeth as it neutralizes organic double bonds that cause dental discolorations.
Hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring mineral calcium apatite made up of calcium, phosphorus and oxygen and makes up a large portion of human bone structure. Hydroxyapatite has been shown to help remineralise tooth enamel and strengthen your teeth.
Traditional teeth whitening methods such as hydrogen peroxide and sodium bicarbonate have been shown to erode tooth enamel over time and cause sensitivity, by including Hydroxyapatite we are helping to actively strengthen your teeth and minimise any sensitivity.
Potassium Nitrate is a commonly used ingredient in toothpastes designed specifically for sensitive teeth as it has been clinically proven to reduce hypersensitivity in people when exposed to things such as cold foods and drinks.
We decided to include Potassium Nitrate in our formula specifically to help people who have suffered from sensitive teeth when using other whitening methods before such as teeth whitening strips and hydrogen peroxide treatments.
Now more than ever before, we're researching and exploring new ingredients to deliver the best oral care products.
